Catcher Publishing- Branding Excercise
As part of a design class, I created a branding mix and mission for a fictional publishing company, dubbed “Catcher Publishing”. This assignment was my first real experience with creating a brand concept, and I thoroughly enjoyed designing logos a a mission for this brand.
For this assignment, I created 5 different logo iterations based around a color scheme and typeface. I used JD Salinger’s classic novel “The Catcher in the Rye” as my inspiration for this piece, because I strived to call upon a sense of youthful wonder as the main pillar for this fictional brand. This is something that Salinger’s novel relies heavily on.
I really enjoyed experimenting with typeface to create something sleek that I could envision standing out against the spine of a book. This experience gave me practice not only with creating an accessible brand identity, but also in exploring brand values that stood as the inspiration for my logos.
