FourSixThree Magazine- “Going Underground”
I created this feature spread for a fictional FourSixThree Magazine for November 2019. As part of a graphic design class, I was tasked with creating a comprehensive feature design, for a real piece on the design of the London tube map. Dan Carrier wrote a piece on Designer Harry Beck about Beck’s work on the now iconic map that guides Londoners around the city and suburbs daily. I wanted to pay homage by creating something beautiful, and sophisticated.
It is obvious that well-designed spreads will drive traffic, so I set out to create something loud yet polished. The photo I used is beautiful on its own, so I employed a simple sans serif typeface that I think only complements that photo and draws ones eye around it, and unto the piece.
I learned so much about magazine design from this assignment, and enjoyed putting this design together.
